Collective Impact Fund launches

Published on July 26, 2021

The Atlantic Institute is delighted to announce the launch of the new Collective Impact Fund, which provides a suite of five grants for Lifelong Fellows to collaborate across the programs. The five grants are: Connect, Ideate, Pilot, Scale and Sustain. They are designed to support Lifelong Fellows on each stage in the journey to develop projects that advance equity: connection and collaboration, ideas development and innovation, the scale up and strengthening of projects, and funds to sustain projects for the long term.

To be eligible to apply for a Collective Impact Fund, you have to be a Lifelong Fellow who wants to work with at least one other Lifelong Fellow from a different Atlantic program.

Applications for the Connect and Ideate grants open today, July 26 2021.The Connect grant of up to £5,000 is available to Lifelong Fellows, who can apply for this grant once a year. It is a rolling grant, so the application window is open all year round. A Connect Grant Information Session will take place at 2.00p.m.-3.00p.m. (BST) on Thursday, Aug. 5. Click here to register.

Lifelong Fellows can apply for the Ideate grant of up to £10,000 once a year; this grant has six application windows yearly with applications closing on the 26 August 2021 for the first cohort of applications. Details on the opening of the other three grants will follow in the coming months. Go to the Grants Section of the Hub to find out more about the Fund and how you can apply.

In designing this suite of Collective Impact Fund grants, we consulted 22 participants across all seven programs, including 16 Fellows who had either received funding or not had funding from the Atlantic Institute. Huge thanks to the program staff and Lifelong Fellows as well as the Global Atlantic Senior Fellows Advisory Forum whose views helped shaped this new Fund. Their recommendations and ongoing conversations with the Institute will continue to inform the development of this funding model.

Once all five grants are on stream, Lifelong Fellows will be able to apply for any one of them in any order, according to your needs at any given time in the project's life. Each grant is designed to help you on your journey: from reaching out at the initial stage to make connections with potential collaborators, to meetings that spur innovative ideas, to testing and trialling, scaling up or providing support to sustain a cross-program project that is working.                                                      .

The Collective Impact Fund will enable Lifelong Fellows to work with Fellows from different programs, disciplines, cultures and countries. For example, Fellows from racial equity may want to work with Fellows from health equity or equity in brain health. Harnessing diverse perspectives, skills, experiences  and (k)new knowledge may trigger and test new ideas, or develop existing cross-program projects that advance a fairer, healthier, more inclusive world.

We look forward to receiving your applications and responding to the question: "But for this collective community, what?" With urgency and optimism, we invite you as changemakers to work together for greater impact.
