Apply for the Peer Group Mentoring Program for program staff

Published on February 8, 2022

The Peer Mentoring Program is now open to staff from across the seven Atlantic Fellows programs. The program is based on the success of a pilot program, which was introduced last year to Senior Fellows and formally concluded in June 2021. It aims to foster supportive spaces to talk about current issues, aspirations and projects. Please note that program staff will be in exclusively program staff peer groups while Senior Fellows will be placed in fellow-to-fellow peer groups. We are now calling for Expressions of Interest from anyone interested in becoming a peer mentor in the next intake. Each year, there will be two application windows—in January and June— with a maximum of 30 places offered per intake.

How does it work?

The Peer Mentoring Program equips participants with the tools for mentoring one another in their mentor groups of no more than five people. Each person will have the opportunity to bring their question to their group of peers and receive feedback using the peer mentoring process. The tools will be provided by the New Zealand Mentoring and Coaching Centre. The Centre will take participants through a four-hour training session that will be a requirement for anyone wanting to participate. Once you have been placed in your group, you will be expected to meet at least once a month for a duration agreed by your group. Your groups will be self-managed by the group members, with the Atlantic Institute providing minimal logistical support.

Applications open from Feb. 7 February and close on March 7, 2022, at midnight (GMT).
