Dear Atlantic Family,
As we prepare to bid adieu as the inaugural Global Fellow Advisory Board (GFAB) members, we are filled with a sense of appreciation, inspiration, and reflection. It has been an incredible honour to serve this community. Our journey together has been nothing short of transformative. We have learned, grown, and connected in ways that have left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.
Despite the unexpected turn of events caused by the pandemic, we not only adapted but thrived, turning obstacles into opportunities. Imagine us rendezvousing in the wee hour from all corners of the globe, fuelled by our favourite hot beverages. We engaged in spirited discussions, tackled challenges and brainstormed fresh ideas in our PJs. Looking back, it’s like scrolling through a series of captivating Instagram Stories.
We learned that true leadership is not about titles or accolades but humility, open-mindedness, and a willingness to learn from one another. We've discovered that the most profound changes often stem from the simplest acts of kindness and understanding. Most importantly, we have learned that we are capable of great things when we come together as a community. We have seen it in the work of our Fellows, who are making a difference in their communities every day.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Global Atlantic Fellow community. We are proud of what we have accomplished together. As we step down from the board, we are filled with hope for the future of GFAB. We hope the next generation of GFABers will continue building on the foundation that we have laid and that they will lead GFAB to even greater heights.
To the incoming GFABers, you are stepping into a community that thrives on diversity, innovation, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact. Here are some insights we've gathered along the way that we'd love to pass on to you:
* Cherish the power of community. GFAB is more than just a board; it is a family. Be there for each other, support each other, co-create breakthrough ideas, and learn from each other.
* Be bold and courageous. Don't be afraid to take risks and challenge the status quo. GFAB is a place where new ideas are born and where change is made.
* Be inclusive and diverse. GFAB is strongest when it reflects the diversity of the global Atlantic Fellow community. Make sure that all voices are heard and that all perspectives are valued.
Dear Global Atlantic Fellows, remember that the true strength of our community lies within each and every one of you. It is your unique perspectives, your unyielding dedication, and your relentless pursuit of a better world that makes the Atlantic Fellowship what it is. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, knowing that you have a network of support and a community of changemakers, thinkers and doers standing beside you and ready to join you in bold action.
To the Atlantic Institute, we say Thank you. Thank you for your support, your dedication, and your commitment to the Fellows forging a better world. Let us carry forward the spirit of collaboration, shared values, catalytic conversations and transformative change as we continue to work towards a fairer, healthier, and more inclusive world.
With heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for the future,
The GFABers
(The Inaugural Global Fellow Advisory Board)
