
Honors for two senior leaders of the Atlantic community
James "Jim" McCluskey
In recognition of his contributions to health, research and community, Professor James McCluskey AO, a member* of the Atlantic Institute Governing Board (AIGB) and assistant vice-chancellor at the University of Melbourne, has been honored with the prestigious Melbourne Achiever Award from the Committee for Melbourne.
The award celebrates his extensive contributions to the biomedical research sector and the community, highlighting his nearly 30-year career. His notable achievements include playing a pivotal role in the conception, construction, and development of the Doherty Institute and leading the team that established the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity Program (AFSE). Brian Lawlor
Brian Lawlor, the site director of the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), has been elected as a Member of the Royal Irish Academy (RIA). The RIA celebrated Admittance Day on May 24, officially admitting 28 new members for their outstanding contributions across various fields, including sciences, humanities, and social sciences, as well as their service to the public.
In addition to his role at GBHI, Brian Lawlor is the Conolly Norman Professor of Old Age Psychiatry. He is a leading figure nationally and internationally in dementia research and care, and a member of the World Dementia Council.
