Seeking a Volume Editor for "The Equity Review"

Published on July 18, 2025

The Atlantic Institute is seeking a Volume Editor for the inaugural edition of "The Equity Review," a biennial open-access publication currently being explored with Oxford University Press. This part-time, remote consultancy offers an opportunity to steward a high-impact, interdisciplinary global forum at the intersection of research, practice and policy.

The first issue, scheduled for publication in October 2026, will examine the theme: Advancing a Fair and Equitable Shift to a Green Future. A global summit on the theme will follow in 2027.

The Volume Editor will lead the editorial process, working closely with Oxford University Press, the Atlantic Institute team and The Equity Review Advisory Group.

Key responsibilities

  • Guide chapter authors through all stages: from the proposal to the final manuscript.
  • Edit chapters ranging from 5,000 to 7,500 words.
  • Write the volume’s introduction and conclusion.
  • Support the knowledge dissemination activities related to the 2026 launch.

The successful candidate

We are seeking an accomplished editor who brings:

  • A strong commitment to equity and climate justice.
  • A proven record in interdisciplinary publishing.
  • The ability to bridge scholarly, practitioner and community perspectives.
Cultural humility, collaborative leadership and experience of working with leading academic publishers.

The consultancy is expected to run from October 2025 to October 2026, dependent on final approval by the Delegates of the Press at the University of Oxford in August 2025.

The fee will be £15,000 (inclusive of VAT). The workload will vary across the production cycle.
